Hey! We’re Monica and Serena! During our first year in college, we quickly bonded over our mutual love for pumpkin pie and both got (a little too) excited about the unlimited dessert bar and never-ending supply of soft-serve at UC Davis. Unfortunately, we saw our sweet tooth getting a little out of hand and required an intervention. This resulted in what became infamously known among our friends as our “dessert fasts.” After several, sad rounds of depriving ourselves of desserts for weeks at a time we realized that there was an easier solution to our “mild” dessert addiction…desserts that are actually good for you!
This inspired the inception of a blog where we share our discoveries, creations and failures in pursuing sweets that are nutritious and delicious. So, welcome to, our aptly named food adventure, Dessert Doesn’t Hurt! We believe that you can live a healthy lifestyle without compromising the joys of delicious food, and hopefully by the end of this journey you will too! Let’s be real, there are tons of blogs out there that portray picturesque lives, but with us you will get to see our tiny, apartment kitchen and our beautifully imperfect experiences.
